The fryer that is the internet, that is.
Hi world! I'm Jemma, aka A Scottish Dumpling, and if you're reading this you're either my Auntie Betty (hi there, yeah, I see you lurking) or a fellow Asian food addict who may or may not reside in Scotland.
A little bit about me:
I am 23 years old, a University graduate (I studied Film and Media and Journalism), and am a self-described 'rodent person' (as opposed to a 'cat' or 'dog person'), though I love all animals.
As is already evident (or should be), I am a big fan of Eastern Asian food, which is funny actually, because as a child I hated rice. (Or I thought I did, anyway). Japanese and Chinese are my usual go-tos, but I'm dipping my toes into other cuisines with reckless abandon, and I'm excited to see where my taste buds take me (and, well, you I guess?)

I started this blog mainly because I wanted to write more often and develop my photography skills (as separate projects), but I'm someone who struggles with general goals, so I wanted a project of sorts to focus my efforts on. At first I was considering designing a personal recipe book of all my favourites, but that wasn't creative enough for me. Then it occurred to me - hey, what about writing about my love of Asian food? It's my go-to choice when eating out, I cook (or attempt to cook) various recipes for it around the web, and I totally used to want to be a food critic when I was younger. So here I am. I'm by no means an expert (all of my criticisms will be based on my white, Scottish taste buds, so, I guess, take that into account?) but I like to think that I've eaten enough Eastern Asian cuisines to be able to tell what is shite, and what is just something that I don't like.
So, yeah. That's me. Feel free to suggest places and/or recipes for me to try, and I shall endeavour to provide you with my extremely valuable insights into them. (Hey, at the end of the day, you can just send me the address of that takeaway down the road and I'll be your guinea pig to see if they give me food poisoning).
