I've decided to start off my reviews in the classiest of ways. That's right - with Tesco sushi.
(I refuse to be judged on this because I was hungry and it was two for £2).
They only had two types left once I stumbled into Tesco after a long day's work, so it was Smoked Salmon (the bread and butter of supermarket sushi) and Hoisin Duck on the cards for me that night. (Yeah, I wasn't sure about the Hoisin Duck either, but there was no way I was having two packs of Smoked Salmon).

The sushi was as you'd expect - nothing special, bordering on just plain bad.
The salmon rolls were bland, chewy and kind of gross to be honest. There were three mini rolls with just salmon, and two larger ones with salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese!? of all things, because people keep insisting that because salmon and cream cheese work together on a bagel, they must do so on rice as well. (In short: NO.) Saying that, the larger rolls were almost passable, as the presence of the cucumber improved things marginally.

The hoisin rolls were a bit better, though the rice was once again chewy and cold. The duck was tasty though, as was the cucumber, though I have to ask who came up with this bastardized idea in all seriousness.
So, there you have it. A largely expected outcome, but if you're super into supermarket sushi (and let's be honest, there must be people who are, otherwise they wouldn't sell it) then maybe check out the hoisin duck one. It isn't awful.
I give it a 1 out of 5 for the rice. 1.5 at a push if we give the duck brownie (bread?) points.
What do you think of supermarket sushi? Are you a fan of Tesco's offerings? Let me know in the comments!
